Vision
Kansas Energy
The 4th House District and Kansas need a comprehensive energy policy that involves all resources including coal, nuclear power, oil, natural gas, wind, solar and new technologies such as bio-energy and hydrogen. This plan should exclude policies that result in higher prices for consumers and reduced profits for businesses - such as carbon cap and trade policies or restricting the use of existing technologies and resources.
Kansas Agriculture
Agriculture is the backbone of Kansas' economy and that Kansas agri-business needs to strengthened and protected. I will fight for farm families by holding the line on taxes and government regulation and supports legislation that provide agri-business opportunities.
Kansas Business
My goals and agenda for the 4th House District and Kansas have not changed since he first served you in the House of Representatives in 2005 and 2006. I still believe the way to stimulate economic growth and increase revenues for our district and state is through good legislation that benefits both business and consumers.
I believe in limited government, fewer regulations and lower taxes to remain competitive in regional, national and international markets. All Kansas citizens and industries benefit from a positive and competitive business environment.
Kansas Education
I strongly support our schools. Providing them with the resources they need to deliver the highest quality of education for Kansas students is a must. $1.5 billion dollars has been added to education funding over the last four years. This level of funding is well above what was required by the Supreme Court. The direction we should take not is to give more local control back to the school districts and move away from the Federal mandated No Child Left Behind program.
Kansas Seniors
Seniors living on fixed incomes have to watch every penny they spend. That is why, when he was in in the House of Representatives, Lynne worked to cap property tax valuations and to eliminated the sales tax on food.
Kansas Transportation
I support priority spending on road projects. Southeast Kansas must be recognized as a high priority area in the next comprehensive highway funding bill. The completion of 69 highway is a must and should receive top priority.
Kansas Immigration
The financial burden placed on our state by illegal immigration should be eliminated. We should ensure State funding does not end up in the hands of illegal immigrants by eliminating in state tuition for illegal immigrants. Access to the Federal E-verify database will allow business to check the citizenship and visa status of potential employees is important. If a business continues to hire illegal immigrants after these tools are provided theses business should be penalized.
Right to Life
The rights of the unborn must be protected. A life conceived should have the opportunity to experience life to the fullest. I will continue to fight for the rights of the unborn through legislation to restrict and eliminate abortions.
